Composing in the Wilderness 2023

OUR DENALI TRIP

In mid-July of 2023, we offered our “classic” experience in Denali National Park, working once again with the fabulous performers of Corvus. The trip was led by dynamic composer and outdoorsman Nathan Lincoln-DeCusatis. Check out the pieces they wrote!

OUR LAKE CLARK TRIP

After ten years of success with chamber music, this is our first venture into large-ensemble music. We selected six composers with expertise writing for wind ensemble/concert band and took them on an immersive and inspiring wilderness trip in Lake Clark National Park.

The composers are currently working on their pieces and will have them done by the beginning on 2024.

We’re delighted to have three presenting ensembles so far:

We’re hoping there will be more! (Details HERE. Email us if you’d like to be included!)

Additional conductors and ensembles who have requested to see the finished compositions and are hoping to program one or more of them.

A NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH UMKC

In another first, for us, 2023 was our first time partnering with a university to offer a special trip for them and allowing the composers to write for musicians that university provided later. And we couldn’t have asked for a better partner than the Conservatory of Music at the University of Missouri - Kansas City and the fabulous performers of Full Gremlin.

The concert of their works took place in Kansas City, MO on September 15th, 2023. Watch this space for recordings soon!
